Most people will try to install door bottom sweeps, however we know that for sound if your seal is not tight, you will get leaks. Therefore an automatic sound rated door bottom is what’s really needed to get a proper seal on those door bottom gaps. Mass Loaded Vinyl – Condo Ceiling

November 17th, 2011

Sound from your neighbor below above or on the side of you can drive you batty when living in a condo. Mass Loaded Vinyl has been something that’s been touted around a lot. Considering the difficulty of doing any type of construction in a condo it may be your only choice. Just lay it down on the floor and cover it with a carpet and pad, the thicker the pad the better it will dampen your footsteps (but it won’t help stop the sound coming from below, the MLV will). However if you are trying to stop the sound coming into your walls or ceiling the simplest solution would be to add a 2nd layer of drywall with a damping compound in between . Read a more detailed soundproofing article on this subject.

Enjoy The Music

September 14th, 2011

The surround system is great the music is fabulous yet there is something missing, it’s still grating on your ears. You are missing proper acoustics in the room. The sounds are bouncing off the walls and colliding with each other not allowing you to hear the purity of the music. There are many different acoustic panels available. From the best we have found is the Sonex brand which is available in a non flammable willtec foam. The main 2 types are the Acoustic Wall Panels which will mainly be used in living areas being that you can have really nice colored fabrics pulled over them. Then there are the Sonex Acoustic Panels that are meant to be used in recording studios, home theaters, offices and other commercial type areas, although we have seen the more muted style white panels appied to master bedroom ceilings.
